Big Pun Documentary Exclusive

The highly anticipated documentary, “Big Pun: The Legacy,” has been held under wraps for sometime now. The release date still hasn’t been made public, but here is an exclusive look at the late rapper’s tribute production.

Do you think it will pay respect to the legacy Big Pun left behind?

What legacy? Dude had like 2 hot records and all of a sudden he paved the way for latinos in hip hop? Ummmm…no. I see this as a desperate attempt @ making more money since the checks stopped rolling in a while ago for Liza.

  2. Simply Me

I agree with you Shmica. How many people even still remember him?

  3. Ana

I still remember him and his music, and i was only like 12 when he died! Wish i had MORE music.
    Have some respect.

  4. Young Iglesias

Shmica your a hating ass bitch and your probably a hating ass nigger because Biggie only came out with 2 albums and he is considered the greatest rapper of all time which is false to me so WTF are you talking about, Big Pun has paved the way for Latin Rappers to do what they do. 1st an only Latin Rapper to go 2 -3 times platinum do your research before you open your mouth with hate and ignorance. comment

  5. Angie

Damn Shmica. Your not afraid to tell the truth.

No one is disrespecting, Ana. I am acknowledging he had had a couple hit songs and I must admit some brilliant lines (”I’m like G. Rap, ‘Pac, Master P
all balled up with a twist of Marc Anthony”). However, I do not feel he left a legacy worth making a movie about…I simply don’t think that many people care.

Wow, did you have to call her a N? Is that the only way you felt you could attack her?

  8. Shmica

Young Iglesias - me das mucha lastima. In case you have no idea what that means, I will translate: I feel sorry for you. For starters, I’m not a black person. I won’t be ignorant and repeat the racist term you so eloquently chose to attack me with. For your info, I’m a proud latina from NYC - so kindly refrain from trying to “school” me. If you disagree with my opinion, that’s perfectly fine. This is a forum/comments section for people to state his/her personal opinions. You, my dear, don’t know how to play nice with the rest of the kids so you should be ignored. Grow the heck up, BABOSO!!!!

  9. Big Pun was one of a kind and definitely had that “it” factor like Tupac and Biggie. Everything after them has been nothing but garbage with wannabees imitating a pure art. I hope that Big Pun did leave behind a true legacy and I hope that it’s featured in this documentary. And I hope doesn’t sux! R.I.P Big Pun.

  10. lovely and amazing

Can’t wait to pay respects and see the documentary in his honor. “Boriqua morena, Boriqua morena” one of the best hooks in hip hop history.

    Big Pun RIP. God Bless.

are they going to put the part about him pistol whipping his wife in the documentary. just asking.

  12. lovely and amazing

    @ Iris

I did not know of this. I am so disappointed. I still don’t think his aparant emotional, mental, and physical health struggles negate his brilliance and contributions.

I only pray PUN and his wife resolved their domestic violence matters and had peace between them before he passed. It is her truth to share not ours to use to put down her deceased husband and children’s father’s name.

    Paz.

I aint Latin or even American, but from a pure art form point of view, Pun aka Chris Rios left a balzing legacy of lyrics. Hit songs, or hit records cater to the masses. The documentary (not feature film) will defintely be aimed at those who new the man as more then just the fat latin rapper. Mad respect to Pun, he really was legendary. Ponder this from an obscure track that probably nobody heard off of Fat Joe’s Don Cartegena album:

” My heart is cold as ice, so I know I’m sheist, Big Pun was the kidt hat no one liked,
    my whole life,
is one big roll of the dice.
Payin a price twice as expensive as white kids
    Destined for Riker’s
not knowin my existance was priceless.
    IT’S LIKE THIS,
    my soul was lifeless,
I earned stripes, fightin the nicest,
in the crisis I slice em in half
    and make em dash
    like hyphens,
invitin any rapper to Clash With the Titan.
    The writing’s like fighting,
cause rappers be biting like Tyson.
    I’m hypein the crowd,
    keepin em Loud,
    like my label I’m proud,
I’m able to lift from the bowels of the ghetto.
I found me a little sanity
inside a career and a family
No more wars and renderin tears to insanity
    So keep the salary,
I tear the mic, cause I love it
There’s my life, you judge it,
    fuck it Seis, I don’t want it… “

The Punisher was one of the best. Thats a fact. Not an opinion.

Shmica, i want to shmack you. Haven’t seen the film, already talkin’ schmack. Esco, thoroughly enjoyed those lines. Young Iglesias, although i got your point about PUn and Biggie, name calling is a no-no.
