Teenager Crowned as New Miss Venezuela
17-year-old Stefanía Fernández was crowned as the new Miss Venezuela on Wednesday night in Caracas, over 27 aspiring candidates.
La adolescente turned Beauty Queen now holds the title that can take her all the way to winning Miss Universe, an honor las hermosas Venezolanas have taken home five times now, including the recent coronation of Dayana Mendoza, Miss Venezuela and Miss Universe 2008, only two months ago in Vietnam.
“We are energized with hope. The goal is that a Venezuelan Miss Universe crowns another Venezuelan Miss Universe the following year…”
Said Mendoza, 22, when giving away her crown to young Stefanía at the end of the ceremony in the midst of the audience’s cheers for both past and present queens.
It seems that this “goal” is being taken very seriously, to the point of choosing the most stunning “woman” to represent the country. But are they selecting the most prepared of them all? Isn’t 17 a bit young for the trials of touring the world as an international ambassador of integral beauty?
Advice to the Miss Venezuela Committee: Just make sure she doesn’t miss her Prom!
Oh, taffeta nights of sequined love and superficiality! Where would we be without our beloved massive surgery-makeovers, hair-pulling, dress-shredding and world geography question bombing-reinados?

She needs to graduate high school first in my opinion, she’s beautiful though. I just thought that these pageants were about young “women” not “girls”?
Look at her chichis: they’re fake. Since when is it OK for a 17 year old to have breast implants ?
