Maná’s Last Minute Obama Endorsement
With less than a week to go until election day, Mexican rock icons Maná have become the latest in a now growing list of Obamistas to throw their celeb weight behind Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
In spite of their history of keeping their political views private, lead singer Fher Olvera isn’t staying quiet any longer, eloquently saying:
Republicans have clearly done little for the Latino community. Where is the immigration reform that would allow millions of workers to work in peace and not be persecuted and harassed as if they were criminals? Who builds the highways and hospitals? Who picks grapes and harvests the wheat? And where, where are their dreams?
Some of you may like the view from your hater high horse, but its hard to deny that this man not only knows what he’s talking about, but speaks with great conviction.
But it is not only their work, dedication and effort that have emigrated along with everyone making up this group; they are also the bearers of a very rich culture with customs and beliefs, values and loyalty, present today in all the arts. The different branches and fruit of Latin roots are part of the vital space making up the nation with more influence on the world than any other has ever had in the world. It is time to support the change that Barack Obama represents. His victory would be encouraging news for all: today the light at the end of the tunnel is visible.
Dang, this guy speaks straight poetry. No wonder his lyrics are so deep. Perhaps this last minute endorsement will help any remaining undecided voters make up their minds. That is, if any of these undecideds are Maná fans!
