Tejano singer, Emilio Navaira keeps luchando for his life. According to reports, the Grammy-winning singer is showing major signs of improvement after experiencing a life-threatening bus accident a couple of weeks ago.

Doctors at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where the singer is currently being treated, stated to the media,

“The singer can eat on his own, he says short phrases and remembers his family members, but he doesn’t remember the accident.”

After being thrown through the windshield of the bus he was driving and receiving fatal head injuries, it is truly remarkable that Emilio has pushed forward the way he has.

The Houston Chronicle has reported that the medical team at Memorial Hermann Hospital have repaired Emilio Navaira’s ruptured lung, and the singer remains in critical condition after his life threatening tour bus crashed more than a week ago.

The Tejano music star has also suffered major head injuries and has undergone two surgeries since the crash. Doctors state that he has responded well to the operations, but that recovery will be a slow process.

Tejano singer, Emilio Navaira’s future remains uncertain after suffering intense head injuries in a bus crash over the weekend.

According to the AP, the neurosurgeon who operated on Navaira warned that the performer “might not make it.” The director of neurotrauma services at the Texas Medical Center, Dr. Alex Valadka, stated,

“It’s very difficult to predict any one person, how they’re going to do. I think it is a good sign so far the pressures in his brain have not risen and have been controlled. The longer we can keep doing that the better it is for him.”

As this case continues, police are also investigating the cause of the crash. Emilio’s blood will be tested for alcohol soon, and results should be concluded within a couple of weeks.

Grammy-winning singer Emilio Navaira is currently in critical condition at a Houston, Texas hospital after being thrown through the front windshield of the bus he was driving on Sunday morning. Police report that they are uncertain about whether drunk driving played a part in the accident.

The bus slammed into traffic barrels at an intense speed, which caused Navaira major head injuries. According to the Houston Chronicle, he was flown by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where doctors operated to relieve swelling and removed a blood clot in his head.

A close friend to the singer stated,

“They told me they had to induce a coma to help relieve that pressure. They told me that had given him a 20 percent chance (of surviving), so the next 24 hours is critical.”

There were seven other band members on the bus, who were also rushed to the hospital for injuries. We are praying for everyone involved in this terrible accident.
