Penelope Cruz and Pedro Almodovar were sharing plenty of affection and besitos at the photo call for “Broken Embraces.”
The film isn’t set to release until March 2009, but these two are doing a pretty good job at promoting the film.
I wonder what Javier Bardem has to say about this!

Pedro Almodóvar is seeking a lead actress for his new film. He is keeping quiet about all production details, but I am sure he is causing an infinite line for auditions.
We all know Penelope Cruz is his favorite! She is better than a trashy actress like Niurka making the cut.

Internationally acclaimed Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar has announced actress Penélope Cruz will be joining the cast of his next project titled “Los Abrazos Rotos” (”Broken Hugs”).
The film tells the tale of a crazy love set in the days of black and while cinema of the 1950s, combined with the 1990s.
“As for Penelope, I’m going to delve into one of her little-known facets,” Almodovar said of the Spanish actress, who was nominated for an Oscar for best actress for her role in his most recent film, “Volver.” “This won’t be a comedy, but humor will be present.”
This movie will surely be another Almodóvar classic. I’m not yet convinced that America knows Penélope acting potential, and instead see her as just another pretty face. But together these two create true cinema magic.
Which Almodóvar-Cruz movie is your favorite?

Director Pedro Almodóvar has given the thumbs up to the theater adaptation of his 1999 acclaimed film “Todo Sobre Mi Madre”. The London theater house was paid a visit by him and the seemingly makeup-less Penelope Cruz, who starred in the film. Of the film’s adaptation he says:
“Sólo he participado en la adaptación de la obra, me han consultado y he dado algunas sugerencias. De hecho, así lo estipulaba el contrato”, explicó Almodóvar, señalando que la dirección ha estado totalmente a cargo del irlandés Tom Cairns. “Yo no me he metido. Y la verdad es que está muy bien, y los actores están geniales”, recalcó.
“I have only participated in the adaptation of the play, they have consulted me and I have given some suggestions. As a matter of fact, that’s how it was stipulated in the contract”, explained Almodóvar, who pointed out that the directing has been totally at the hands of Irishman Tom Cairns. “I have not intervened. And the truth is that it is real good, and the actors are brilliant”, he said.
How flattering it must be that nearly a decade after the film’s release, there’s still a market for the film! It’s nice to see how Latin cinema has gone global in just the last ten years alone. And it’s only going to get better!
